CHARITY DONATIONS & GRANTS

The Watch Station’ ongoing maintenance is costly as it was built as a matter of urgency at the start of WW2 without the benefit of modern building skills and materials. Furthermore it needs to be brought up to modern building regulation standards.

We are heavily reliant upon - and extremely grateful for - the charitable trust donations and grants from individuals that we receive.

local supporters & sponsors

Throughout our history we have relied on the generosity and commitment of charitable trusts, local businesses, local political grants and the deep pockets of the general public to fund maintenance, provision of utilities and operational equipment.

It’s thanks to this generosity that Folkestone NCI was established as the first watch in Kent and subsequently was able to occupy its present location in the old artillery observation post.

We receive no Central or Local Government funding in order to provide the Coastwatch service.

We are a registered charity and rely on the generosity of the local community and the efforts of the watchkeepers and their friends and families to generate the necessary funds to maintain the station.
